Brantford Mayor Chris Friel – Don’t Call Him A Liberal

Apparently, calling Chris Friel out for appearing to stump for the Liberals gets you a seat in the twitter penalty box, I have learned today.

Through a simple retweet of a link and calling him a “Liberal,” Chris Friel’s thin skin was apparently penetrated enough to warrant this:

Chris Friel, Blocked, Twitter, RichieRoby, Angry Twitter

A Block from Twitter.

Upon talking to others who live in this city, I mean, after all he is the Mayor of Brantford, not just a simple citizen, this is a typical response to those who do not agree with him. Here is another account that he blocked recently, yet still references in tweets:

Chris Friel, Block, Twitter, citizens, Mayor, Brantford

By the way, once you have blocked a user, they cannot see you tweeting to them, Mr. Mayor.

Furthermore, upon looking through the mayor’s twitter account, I see a number of terse conversations he has on a regular basis, with citizens and boards alike.

Chris Friel, Twitter, Angry, Downtown Brantford, Mayor

Chris Friel clearly doesn’t like dissenting opinions, or challenges. But wait didn’t he invite that not earlier in the year, with a convo he had with me?

Chris Friel, Questioned, mayor, Brantford

Speaking of earlier conversations, I remember sharing a laugh with the mayor about clementines recently… very cordial.

Chris Friel, Mayor, Brantford, Twitter, Cordial

So why the thin-skinnedness, Mr Mayor? Why are you so upset about chat on twitter, that you would block a fellow citizen for questioning a decision? Or retweeting a link? Or calling you a Liberal?

By the way, Chris, didn’t you run for the 2004 Liberal nomination for the Brant riding, therefore making my assertion that you are a Liberal very on the mark? And what about this retweet?

Chris Friel, Liberal, Kevin O Leary, CBC, Left wing,

Look, Chris. You can block whoever you want. It’s your twitter account that you are “claiming” to be representing the whole city of Brantford. But clearly, you are not. You are representing only those who will say yes, and those who will kowtow to you. Which is a shame, but not surprising. That’s very typical of a Liberal.

Unlike yourself (as represented by twitter*), I will not block or run away from criticism, but rather embrace it. I can learn from those I disagree with, even more than those I agree with.

Chris Friel, Brantford, Mayor, Come at me Bro, Liberal, Blocking, Twitter, Shame

UPDATE 7:45pm – Chris Friel has dumped his twitter account, but not before dropping one more status:

Chris Friel, Mayor, brantford, tweet

The irony in that last tweet is astounding.

The Canadian Independent Music Association is Completely F*cking Insane

For the love of everything, if you are a Canadian, you now HAVE to stop Bill C-11. Call a Conservative, email stuart@cimamusic.ca and tweet @StuartCIMA to tell him what an
idiot out to lunch executive he is. Start tweeting under the tags #boycottcima or #stopc11. Tweet your concerns to #C11, as many of the MPs are watching this hash tag.

Sorry Canada, CIMA, C-11, No Internet, Canada Regulations, Bill C-11, Copyright Law
This is what CIMA wants your internet to look like.

This has to be the most frightening amendments I have ever seen to a legislation and I am not alone in thinking this. In fact, Alan Cross and I quoted the same parts of Michael Geist’s post.

CIMA, regaulatory, demands, C-11, STOP CIMA, SOPA Canada, Canadian Independent Music Association, SHAME

The steady procession of Canadian music industry representatives to the Bill C-11 committee continues today with the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) ready to add to an already long list of industry demands to completely overhaul the bill.

The music industry demands keep growing, but CIMA’s list is the most radical to date as it would create liability risk for social networking sites, search engines, blogging platforms, video sites, aggregators, and many other websites featuring third party contributions. If that were not enough, the industry is also calling for a new iPod tax, an extension in the term of copyright, a removal of protections for user generated content, parody, and satire, as well as an increase in statutory damage awards. Taken together, the music industry demands make SOPA look like some minor tinkering with the law.

If you like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Pinterest, iPod, or Google, and you don’t want them to leave or block Canadian IPs, you’d better speak up now. I’m dead serious. Canadians cannot have CIMA like controls restricting their internet experience.

Here’s a list of CIMA Executives who want to ruin your internet experience. MAIL THEM. Or phone them.

Stuart Johnston, President – stuart@cimamusic.ca 416-485-3152 ext. 232

Sharon Hookway, Membership / Communications Coordinator – sharon@cimamusic.ca 416-485-3152 ext. 221

Tell them to stop being lapdogs for US record labels, since they got their panties in a knot in the US over SOPA.

I swear do it, or you will lose the internet. In fact, I couldn’t even post this clip if this bill passed as CIMA wants it:

Bill C-11 is Canada's SOPA, South park, no Internet

Sorry, Dave Levac, It’s more than politics to me too.

And for that reason, I will not be supporting you. As the closest government MPP to Caledonia, and representing a riding that is also in sight of the illegal native occupations, have you done ANYTHING for the rule of law in Ontario? No, you have done nothing. Did you help Caledonians who were traumatized, arrested without lawful reasons by the Ontario Provincial Police, intimidated by native terrorists for years, other than to hand them a cheque right before the writ was dropped? No.

Dave Levac

Did you vote to increase my taxes? Yes. Many times. Did my health care tax help out when I had to wait with my girlfriend in the Brantford General Hospital for nearly 12 hours, before she was admitted? That same day, another gentleman had to wait til the next morning after already waiting 12 hours. Disgraceful.

How many jobs have LEFT Brantford and Brant since you’ve been in office? Where are all the factories that once flourished in this city? Where are all these green jobs, how come none of them came to Brantford? Why am I paying an extra 10 – 15 cents a litre for gas? An extra tax on my electricity bill? Where have you been for us on that one?

Sorry, Dave, I will not be supporting another four years of meandering, wasteful, government spending. I will not be supporting a green energy initiative that is keeping major employers from coming here, for fear their hydro bills are going to go through the roof. I will not be supporting McGuinty’s continued need to balloon our deficit so my kids will have to pay it for me.

It’s more than politics for me, Dave Levac. And that means you do not get this vote. Michael St Amant and Tim Hudak’s Conservatives can clean the government up, and I can trust them to keep taxes low, and actually enforce the rule of law.

Dalton McGuinty is Using Your Money to make sure You don’t get a Job

Dalton McGuinty, Liberal, McChicken, pandering, Liberals suck

McGuinty has a plank in his platform that says if you hire a newly landed immigrant, you get a $10,000 check from the province. Hire Someone born and raised in Canada? Get a “Thanks for coming out.” It’s complete pandering to immigrants. Not only is that social engineering, is of the lowest kind. It’s left-wing racism.

“It reminded me a little bit of the potential blow back that we could see by positioning it from the opposition as an affirmative action program,” said Liberal insider Andrew Steele.”

c/o Blazing Cat Fur: McGuinty’s Labour Day Pledge: I’m gonna use your money to buy your job and give it to some immigrant stupid enough to vote for me.

Dalton McGunity is NOT interested in helping out Ontarians, unless you are in the Liberal fold. Time to lose YOUR job, Dalton.

Dr. Eric Hoskins, Political Wannabe

I noticed this week a big jump in the comments on my post from before, about how Dr. Eric Hoskins would snub Norfolk if elected MP. Sure enough, he ran to Dalton Mc Chicken, for a seat in the riding of St. Paul’s.

Now, he jumped ship from the fed Libs to the provincial Libs. He jumped out of Norfolk (whom he obvious had no care about or he’d actually LIVE here) to Toronto, where he hopes his Dr. designation will get him a seat in the provincial legislature.

Here’s the thing, Eric. You want to enter public service. you cannot snub people in that service. From what I am reading, you are nothing more than a carpetbagger! An overqualified, looking down on others, Carpetbagger. Dalton has given you a “safe” seat to run in.

It’s a shame too. I remember him strolling through Norfolk, basically telling us that he deserves the seat and we were fools for not handing it to him. The same thing is happening in St. Pauls. I mean, check out his website! You need a strong experienced voice in Queen’s Park. not someone who’s actually lived in Toronto, like ex-Sun reporter Sue Levy or Lawyer Julian Heller.

At any rate, best of luck to those in St.Paul’s, and vote wisely. Remember, the promises made to you were made to us, not a few months before.

This Election – Dare to Believe

Make sure that if you didn’t vote in the advance polls, that tomorrow you go out and vote. And this year, as I mentioned before I will not be voting Conservative for the first time in my life. I’m tired of being promised that my MP will deliver for me and comes back empty handed. I expect that from the liberals – thats what they do. But I demand better from the Conservatives. And I have not been impressed with the performance of Diane Finley.

How many jobs were created in Norfolk since Finley has been our MP? I mean good, quality jobs – not $8/hr WalMart jobs. How did that tobacco bailout do until only 4 weeks before an election call? How has she handled the most divisive issue in our area, the Caledonia Crisis? Has she taken the lead and made sure herself and her party has been at the forefront? Absolutely not.

Let me be clear — I’m not expecting Finley to have the magic answer to everything. But I want her to demonstrate leadership and execution on crucial issues affecting our area, not sit in the ministerial row waiting to stand for a vote when Stephen Harper says it’s okay.

So this election, I’ve decided to go with the maverick. The one who has promised to stand up for our area because he doesn’t have to tow a party line. The one who has been in our area addressing the black eye that is ruining our economy. The one who shows passion, leadership and integrity. I know how this man stands on an issue because he makes it clear. Love him or hate him, at least you know he will defend Haldimand-Norfolk. I ask you to give Gary McHale strong consideration when you go to the ballot tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.

Gary McHale

Bob Speller Embarrasses Himself At Norfolk Fair

In the past 24 hrs McHale’s Campaign has had two Liberal supporters directly say that they know that some “secret group” is behind him. In the Sachem newspaper Darrell Doxtdator, a clear supporter of Eric Hoskins, states that my
campaign is estimated to cost $10,000-$50,000 and a “truly independent candidate could not raise that
amount of money.”
Tonight Bob Speller (the previous Liberal MP) confronted Gary with this same type of allegation that
somehow some secret group was behind him.
Mr. Hoskins told me tonight that these people were not following any instructions given by him and that he doesn’t believe Gary has done anything wrong. Gary took Mr. Hoskins at his word that his people were not involved with Mr. Doxtdator’s attempt to smear him but after a well-known Liberal (Bob Speller) made the same allegation on the same day appears to be not a coincidence.
Doxtdator has been with Eric’s people at each debate over the past 2 weeks. Doxtdator has been
photographing campaign signs and sharing documents with Eric’s people – Gary has witnessed this with his own eyes. (It should be noted, I noticed signs being taken down as well) Bob Speller is directly connected to Eric’s campaign and Mr. Speller clearly implies that some group which he claims to know is backing Gary. The following is part of the dialogue regarding this alleged secret group – as Gary remembers it.
Bob: “Your people took my signs in the last election.”
Gary: “My people? I am an Independent.”
Bob: “I know who is behind you”
Gary: “Who?”
Bob: “I know”
Gary “Who, then?”
Bob: “I know who is behind you”
Gary: “You have just contradicted what Eric told me over the phone today.”
Bob: “What?”
Gary: “Eric told me that his people were not questioning who was behind me but now you say you know who is behind me as if I have done something wrong.”
Gary: “What is your name?”
Bob: “You don’t know who I am?”
Gary: “No, what is your name?”
Bob: “You don’t know me and you are running in this riding!”
Mr. Speller then walked away.

So, wait Bob, you’re implying that either Finley, or maybe some Chretienite stole your signs last election? Boo hoo. How could it be Gary, the guy who was in Richmond-Hill last time? Not to mention, Finley should be the one most scared by McHale’s entrance into this race, not some Doctor who doesn’t stand a chance in Haldimand-Norfolk. If anything, you should be shaking the man’s hand, Bob, he’s doing for Hoskins, the same thing that got you elected — splitting the vote on the right. What a dumb thing to do, Bob. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Harper is still the most Prime Ministerial of them All

I need to pay a writer for this site. Or, perhaps I need a piece of equipment to spontaneously blog for me while I’m thinking it out. That could be dangerous.
At any rate, I found last night’s french debate so tough to watch (even with the translators) that I have to say the winners were those who understand french more than english. Anyways, over at Janke’s Angry in the Great White North, one of the most overlooked parts of the debate was noticed. It was the “fluffball” question you always get in therapy sessions: Say something nice about the person to your left. While everyone else made niceties into cheap shots, Harper actually gave Layton genuine praise while keeping it in context. Now that is a leader. Read Janke for the rest.

I can’t wait for tonight, and it sucks I work til 9:30. Not only is there the English Debate, which I will miss most of, I will get to see the Veep Debate in the states….. How will Palin do without a script to follow?

Finley Thumbs Her Nose at Dunnville

Diane Finley “has better things to do” than attend the all candidates meeting in Dunnville on October 2nd. The Dunnville Chronicle has more.

Maybe someone can call up the ‘Finley Scarecrow‘ or perhaps post some “where is Diane Finley” signs in her absence. But seriously, do you just write off your electorate, because you have “something better to do”? I’m sorry, don’t you work for the people you are supposed to be meeting on October 2nd, Ms. Finley?
