Kids Breaking in to CN Busted
Why would kids break into a CN engineering building? Two kids will have to answer that question after being arrested by Oxford Community Police Saturday morning. Oxford police arrived at the building just as the pair were getting ready to drive off in a pick up truck. As a result, 19 year old Amy Rathan and 20 year old Corey Watling of Woodstock were arrested and charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. Watling is also charged with Possession of Break-in tools.
Here’s a Way to Beat Discipline: Retire
Oxford Community Police Staff Sergeant Pieter VanMeekeren was awaiting sentencing on 2 of 4 counts of discreditable conduct when he decided to retire – now preventing the Police Service Act Tribunal from imposing penalty on him. On October 19th, 2007, VanMeekeren was found guilty of inappropriately touching two female civilian officers at the Ontario Police College in August of 2006. VanMeekeren was originally scheduled for sentencing on November 28th but asked for an adjournment for new legal counsel after firing his lawyer. A new sentencing date was scheduled for February 15th but VanMeekeren opted to retire – which means the tribunal has lost jurisdiction over sentencing. VanMeekeren’s retirement took effect February 29th.
