Sorry, Dave Levac, It’s more than politics to me too.

And for that reason, I will not be supporting you. As the closest government MPP to Caledonia, and representing a riding that is also in sight of the illegal native occupations, have you done ANYTHING for the rule of law in Ontario? No, you have done nothing. Did you help Caledonians who were traumatized, arrested without lawful reasons by the Ontario Provincial Police, intimidated by native terrorists for years, other than to hand them a cheque right before the writ was dropped? No.

Dave Levac

Did you vote to increase my taxes? Yes. Many times. Did my health care tax help out when I had to wait with my girlfriend in the Brantford General Hospital for nearly 12 hours, before she was admitted? That same day, another gentleman had to wait til the next morning after already waiting 12 hours. Disgraceful.

How many jobs have LEFT Brantford and Brant since you’ve been in office? Where are all the factories that once flourished in this city? Where are all these green jobs, how come none of them came to Brantford? Why am I paying an extra 10 – 15 cents a litre for gas? An extra tax on my electricity bill? Where have you been for us on that one?

Sorry, Dave, I will not be supporting another four years of meandering, wasteful, government spending. I will not be supporting a green energy initiative that is keeping major employers from coming here, for fear their hydro bills are going to go through the roof. I will not be supporting McGuinty’s continued need to balloon our deficit so my kids will have to pay it for me.

It’s more than politics for me, Dave Levac. And that means you do not get this vote. Michael St Amant and Tim Hudak’s Conservatives can clean the government up, and I can trust them to keep taxes low, and actually enforce the rule of law.

DEX Gets His 15 minutes on TSG

Tariq Malik, the 25-year-old founder and leader of Pranknet, cowers in his bedroom as The Smoking Gun reporters station outside his home. read the whole article, seriously.

Dex is fucked, seriously. And I can’t say I’m anything but glad, after what happened to me over those weeks when i just mentioned him. Here are the people mentioned in the article, and specifically, those who are also on the tapes harassing me, which I will re-up in light of this new development:

Dex, The Pranknet Telephone Terrorist, prank calls, Tariq Malik
Dex – Tariq Malik, 1637 Assumption Street, Windsor, 25.

Hempster, William Marquis, Pot Grower, Pranknet
Hempster – William Marquis, Gilroy Drive, Scarborough(Toronto), 51

Also mentioned in the article are Veruca, Slipknotpsycho, Moe Lester, and Prankster.

Arrests should be coming, and the ownage has already begun. Dex, you are getting your due, you stupid fucking piece of shit. Harassing me and my family? Thanks for coming out. Tres kudos to The Smoking Gun for this awesome, awesome article.

It was one of those moments…

…. where you wish you had your camera in the car. Yesterday at 6am, I was on my way to Welland. Looking up the highway I was seeing tinges of red. Not thinking clearly, since I hadn’t even had coffee yet, I was assuming “Hmm…. the sun is coming up earlier all the time.” I watched as the red would sorta flicker and disappear, and I changed my mind. “Nah, it’s low level fog reflecting the street lights. Cool.” And I thought no more of it.

After stopping into Tim’s and getting my daily ritual, I descend on the highway again, only to be detoured off at Ireland Sideroad. Of course, the usual “bah, fucking police roadblocks, I wonder what accident prompted this?” Well after I turned left I found out.

A huge fireball was erupting on Highway 3 that you could clearly see one concession over. I literally said “Wow!” (Yes, I am still a kid when it comes to that) and I look into my backseat. No camera. I always used to carry my camera, for moments like that. Not this time. So instead I slowly drove until I couldn’t see it no more, and annoyed, went on to Welland.

Moral of the story — Carry your camera. Cause this is the best picture anyone has, and it sucks.

This Election – Dare to Believe

Make sure that if you didn’t vote in the advance polls, that tomorrow you go out and vote. And this year, as I mentioned before I will not be voting Conservative for the first time in my life. I’m tired of being promised that my MP will deliver for me and comes back empty handed. I expect that from the liberals – thats what they do. But I demand better from the Conservatives. And I have not been impressed with the performance of Diane Finley.

How many jobs were created in Norfolk since Finley has been our MP? I mean good, quality jobs – not $8/hr WalMart jobs. How did that tobacco bailout do until only 4 weeks before an election call? How has she handled the most divisive issue in our area, the Caledonia Crisis? Has she taken the lead and made sure herself and her party has been at the forefront? Absolutely not.

Let me be clear — I’m not expecting Finley to have the magic answer to everything. But I want her to demonstrate leadership and execution on crucial issues affecting our area, not sit in the ministerial row waiting to stand for a vote when Stephen Harper says it’s okay.

So this election, I’ve decided to go with the maverick. The one who has promised to stand up for our area because he doesn’t have to tow a party line. The one who has been in our area addressing the black eye that is ruining our economy. The one who shows passion, leadership and integrity. I know how this man stands on an issue because he makes it clear. Love him or hate him, at least you know he will defend Haldimand-Norfolk. I ask you to give Gary McHale strong consideration when you go to the ballot tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thoughts With Coffee

Everyone who knows me well enough knows I probably think best when sitting at my desk with my coffee in the morning and music blaring into my ears. Well today is no exception.

Just some random thoughts I pulled together while drinking my coffee and waking up……. I can’t remember the last time I woke up to thunder on my birthday, since we hardly if ever get storms this late in the year…… I’ve watched the Canadian and US stock markets have near heart failure about 6 times in the past two weeks, and the corresponding foot traffic has been missing from the store the following day. So what happens if this recession depression is real?…….. I notice people keep stealing or moving Gary McHale’s signs off of Highway 3 on my daily trek into Simcoe, whats that all about? Secret fans taking them for their lawn? Or is it political dissenters trying to quash their campaign? At least Gary is getting attention, I notice no one is stealing Finley or “Dr. Eric Hoskins” signs. In an election like this, any attention is good attention, eh?

I have about 7 – 10 posts to do that I’m over due on, not even including the news items I’ve glossed over. I’ve been very sick and it is taking all I can just to suck it up for work (drugs help). I’ll make it up tomorrow if I don’t put them up tonight.

Diane Finley’s Biggest fear — Gary McHale

For the first time in 3 elections, Diane Finley has something to worry about. And it comes in the form of independent candidate Gary McHale. Originally seen as a protest candidate running on a single issue, McHale has quickly picked up on the issues affecting the Norfolk side of Haldimand-Norfolk as well.

I will be the first to tell you I dismissed McHale’s candidacy initially. My first reaction was “What? Is this just a stunt?” and I laughed at the prospect of an indie candidate getting much over 12 votes. I remember political neophytes of the past, and remember their candidacies swelling up in a big fireball come election day.

However, after talking to Gary this past weekend (I spent the better part of an hour with him this weekend at the Delhi Harvest Fest) not only did I believe in his vision for the riding, I believe he is going to send a message to not just the OPP, not just Dalton McGuinty, not just Julian Fantino, but also to Diane Finley and Stephen Harper as well.

Gary McHale is what I would call a “Classic Conservative” or a libertarian. He’s interested in law and order, he’s a social conservative, but not invasively so, and he’s a fiscal hawk. All of those appeal to Finley’s base. I should know. I am Finley’s base. I’ve voted Reform and Conservative my entire life. I’m a social conservative — at one point I was going thorough to be a Baptist minister. I abhor taxes, and I believe we need to have a strong, competitive, vibrant Canada and the key to this is low taxes, strong employment, and responsible, accountable government. All of these things are in both Diane Finley’s and Gary McHale’s platforms.

But there’s one strong standout in my opinion. I believe Gary McHale when he says “I’m going to bring up Haldimand-Norfolk’s interests first.” Diane Finley, in her years with the government, has served in the cabinet, yet I can’t recall anything that she has delivered to our riding. I can’t recall a time when she stood up for farmers. I can’t recall a time when she lobbied for our share of the government tax dollars that are out there. Until this summer, there wasn’t even mention of the tobacco bailout! Finley, where have you been? I even know your husband, Doug Finley, is Harper’s right hand man; why couldn’t you get something done for us?

That is where McHale comes in. Think about it this way – Diane Finley can ignore her riding because she can largely get elected in Haldimand-Norfolk by carrying the Conservative banner. Sufficient to say, she doesn’t have to really be accountable to her electorate. She can show up each election, bring the blue C, and bring the votes home. I mean, anyone, even I can do that. What takes guts and gumption is to be elected independently and actually have to work for your food for next election. Show your riding that “This is what I did for you, Caledonia, Delhi, Haldimand, Norfolk, Port Dover, Simcoe, Waterford. Will you let me do it again?”

So for the first time in my voting career, I will not be voting Conservative. I am not putting a Conservative sign on my lawn. I am supporting a candidate who will stand for me, stand for my community, and stand for Haldimand-Norfolk. I am supporting a candidate who will put our issues ahead of the party, because he has no party to be accountable for. Just the electorate. I am supporting Gary McHale.

Doctor Eric Does Snub Norfolk Residents!

………….. for example, me.

While I was talking to one of his entourage at the Delhi Harvest Festival, Dr. Eric Hoskins came over to fetch the handler, without as much as acknowledging my presence, let alone presenting me a case to vote for him. So much for Eric attempting to court younger voters in Haldimand-Norfolk (at the tender age of 28, I’m assuming I’m still considered youth). Maybe he assumed that I was not part of the demographic he was interested in.

So, not a pamphlet, not a glad hand, absolutely nothing from Dr. Eric Hoskins, who has left his worldly cause to come “home” to Simcoe to represent us wee folk. That’s how you plan to work for us, Dr. Eric Hoskins?

So here is my challenge. Dr. Eric, I want you to give my phone a call. Thats going to take a bit of effort, because you’re gong to have to email me for my phone number. (roby at genzel dot ca — see I’ve got you started). No, I don’t want a call from your campaign. No, I don’t want to to send Jeremy Whittet, or any other memebers of your entourage down to sooth things with me. I want you, to call the house, and explain to me why you are not interested in my vote, or conversely, I want you to make the case personally. You are for the people, right Dr. Eric? Show me. Show me that you are not the snob you are appearing to be on your signs; and now in person.

Simcoe Gas Stations Gouging Customers?

Why is Simcoe still the last bastian of price gouging in the area? I forgot how overpriced the gas was in this town until I returned to work here 4 weeks ago. Since then, I’ve watched as prices dropped in Delhi, Scotland, Brantford, etc…. down as low as 1.28 and Simcoe was still holding out at 1.35. I was so pissed filling up friday cause I knew I couldn’t make it back to Delhi on what I had. Even Vanessa, the wee lil gas there was 1.32. Tell me the rationale behind that!

I know it corrected a bit over the weekend, but you wait, Simcoe will be back to it’s gouging ways by Wednesday.

Gas at 1.34 this Weekend.

I’ve never paid more than 128.4 so far, which was 10 days ago….. but what the fuck?

Oil is up 40% so far in 2008, and as a result, so is gas. I was paying 99.9 as late as October. It makes commuting to work almost impossible….. and any pay hike is vanished in the cost of travel.

Gas Hits Record High

So how far is this going up? At this rate I won’t be able to afford to commute to work by years’ end.
