So week one of my training is over. Easy as pie, as long as my feet hold up. The first two days I tried, in futility, to use steel toed shoes. after deciding that walking is more important than making a point of using them, I switched back to real shoes. Thank Jesus. Danish took it one step further and bought me a new pair of my favorite shoes, which were at Payless of all places. (I forgot I had gotten them there.) By the Friday, I could walk again, without serious pain.
I can’t lie, I miss not hearing much good music last week. I get the opportunity to hear some Scott Fox and the morning show crew on the ol’ Z103.5, which is sufficient for my 35-45 minute trek from east-end Hamilton to Niagara-on-the-Lake, but then, no more music until I travel back in the 10pm hour.
Talking about Scott Fox and the crew, I have a bone to pick with his often funny, but sometimes whiny co-host and producer, Dave Blezard. The day of the R2R Caledonia Protest Run to Toronto, which was mentioned on their newscast, Dave decides to whine about how people are taking it to the streets and interrupting everyone else’s day for their issue, and how that is not fair for them to do so.
I’m sorry Dave, but if you took a trip out of your cozy little studio where you work every day, down the QEW to real life in Caledonia, maybe you’d understand why they decided to try to get their government to settle the hell that has been their life for over a year. Sorry that they had to rub a few people the wrong way and inconvienience them for a half hour while they showed you their pain for over a year.
Sometimes the whiny shit that comes out of this show clouds an otherwise excellent music experience. Sorry Dave, but if I was interested in your political views, I’d tune in one of the several Toronto, Hamilton and St Kitts news stations. Stick to what you do best, witty banter with Scott Fox and talking about celebrity fluff.
Okay, rant off. So next week will be a lot like this week. I travel back up to Hamilton and shuttle back and forth from St. Catharines the whole week. This is the last week of training though, and all will return to Genzel Happiness next weekend.
