Bear With Us As We Upgrade

Sometime between 8 am and 11am today there will be a brief outage as we at Generation Zel! Radio upgrade the servers here at the studio. I’m hoping that unlike CHCH, we won’t flash cut into hardcore gay porn. Probably wouldn’t go over well. It could be worse, we could come back airing the Best of Derek episodes of The Show.

New Voices Coming to Generation Zel! Radio

I am very pleased to announce that we have three new presenters coming to Generation Zel! Radio in the very near future.

Jody Ruth

Jody Ruth is not only a presenter, he is a hell of a writer, and has some awesome viewpoints in the London, UK music scene. Jody also has his hands on fresh music from DJs that you haven’t heard yet. Jody will not only entertain you aurally (which is different than orally, folks), but he has a blog that you should follow. So do it already. Follow Jody on Facebook and Twitter.

DJ Paperbass

DJ Paperbass brings with him a massive library of House, Electro, and Top 40 to turn your radio into an event that nobody will forget. Music is the most significant factor at a party, and a DJ that can read and interact with the crowd accompanied by an excellent taste in music provides you with a once in a lifetime experience! Follow DJ Paperbass on Facebook and Twitter.

Eric Zone

Eric Zone was born in 1994 in Subotica, in northern Serbia. He started dj-ing when he was only 16. When somebody asked him how would he describe his career and his style in dj-ing, he answered:

“Genres should never be considered as borders. In my sets, you can hear a lot, dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass, hip-hop, complextro, drumstep, progressive, house, electro… even tech-house sometimes. Loads of effects, loads of beats, loads of vocals… No borders, no rules. The only rules that I respect are the rules that I set. I live in a place where EDM music (especially dark music full of basses) is unknown to the most of the people. But that isn’t stopping me, it only gives me motivation to keep trying, no matter how hard it is. I don’t wait for a success, I fight for it, even more with every new day.”

Eric will be hosting Bassology bi-weekly on Generation Zel! Radio and have another show intermittently as well. Follow Eric Zone in Facebook and Twitter.

I will update you with programs and schedules, so keep watching this space! by the way, follow us on Facebook and Twitter too.

This pic has nothing to do with the post. Still funny.

Target Still Coming to Brantford?

Zellers Brantford, Brantford, Target, West, Fairview

Rumour across facebook is that Target will not be coming to Brantford after all –at least not in the location on West and Fairview. Employees were told that Target will be selling the lease back to the owners at a date to be determined later.

Which begs the question, are they coming? Will they build a new location? Brantford deserves more than just a crappy Walmart. Fact.

Brantford Walmart: Fumbling the Ball on Customer Service

I am absolutely livid at the crappy customer service I got today at the place ironically named “Customer Service” at Walmart in Brantford today.

Here’s the back story. My boss, who is a woman, asked me to exchange two pairs of pants for her, as they were not the right size. Simple enough, right? An exchange is easy enough, it doesn’t cost Walmart anything, and I won’t have to feel like I’m one of those creeps that routinely try to get refunds all the time on everything (Anyone who has worked in department store retail knows who I’m talking about there).

Brantford Walmart, sucking at Customer Service

So I come in and wait in line. Line isn’t long. Great! I should be in and out in no time. It gets to my turn. I come up, bag in hand, with receipt. I mention casually that these pants aren’t in the size she would like and that I’d like to exchange for a different size. The lady at customer service starts processing a refund.

I try to stop her. “No, I just want an exchange in a different size!” I said. “Well, you can go get them and they’ll ring you through.” She said. “But I don’t know what style they are or anything!” I tried to reason with her. “There’s a couple girls in fashion I think that might be able to help you.” No budging. She processes the refund. this woman had at least 10 years of service (I’m sure that’s what her badge said) and knew I wasn’t interested in looking for pants. Doesn’t matter.

Now this is where I’m livid. While I’m a dude that has no problem picking up stuff for women; I’m really irritated by this. This wasn’t some great thing I was asking of her. I wanted someone to get the correct size of pants! I don’t want to be looking around aimlessly in the women’s section of fashion looking for pants that I didn’t get more than a 10 second glimpse at in hopes of “finding some” in the right size. Not to mention, how the hell are these girls going to help me find “some black pants” in another size if I don’t know what they are? I’m not going to look like an idiot trying to find girl pants in the store.

Let’s add the fact that they are under construction, and nothing is in it’s correct place. So even if I knew what type of pants they were, how the hell am I going to logically go and look for them? The right answer is to say “I’ll have someone bring those up in the size you want. It’ll be two minutes.”

Now I have left absolutely raving mad (you can tell I’ve calmed down some now) and have lost what little respect I was gaining for Brantford Walmart. As it is – if I want something from a Walmart I go out of Brantford because the store is either out of stock or the service is poor. Now another reason why this Walmart blows.

Get your fucking act together Brantford Walmart, or your store isn’t going to do any better post-reno once Target comes in. Just saying. Feel free to add your Walmart Brantford hell stories in the comment section.

William Todd: Criminal Legend of Fail

Police say William Todd of Kentucky went on a crime spree lasting 9 hours and 10 felonies before finally being arrested at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.

William Todd wreaked havoc on Nashville, where he started his day of terror by breaking into a haunted house tourist attraction and stealing a taser, revolver and shotgun. Todd went on a shooting spree inside and eventually lit the building on fire.

Todd then tased, pistol-whipped and stole cash and credit cards from four patrons at a local bar all while holding them at gunpoint. About five minutes later, Todd hijacked a taxi and drove to Walmart, where he spent over $200.

Todd then broke into a local lawyers office, ransacked the business then defecated on a desk, smearing feces on some of the framed law degrees.

He then impersonated a female housekeeper and knocked on several hotel room doors.

In one case, police said Todd stole $600 from a Canadian couple while at gunpoint and shaved his head to rid of a long red ponytail that could lead to police finding his identity.

At 9am, police said Todd crashed the stolen cab into a parking garage.

Two hours later he hailed a new one and held the cab driver at knife point.

Police, on the search for Todd, found him submerged in a water-cooling vat in Opryland where he was hiding.

We’ll discuss this on the show tonight at 9pm on Generation Zel! Radio!
