As you already know, Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Simcoe is now infamous for their “sexting” scandal. While students have been passing lewd and nude photos around with each other, the even scarier thing is the reaction from parents, who have been blaming the media for talking about this, and the people who have been googling for this story.

Brantford

Well, I’ve made the move, and the station(s) have come with me. Hello Brantford! I’ve moved from a town of 5000 people to a city with hookers on Market Street, Drunks who crash their bikes into parked cars (yes that happened to me), and firetrucks wailing on the half hour. Awesome!

But alas, Brantford isn’t as bad as I used to make it out to be. I remember posting on Facebook once that Brantford was gay, only to get flak from some in the gay community that Brantford wasn’t good enough to join those ranks. Okay!

At any rate, up until about a week ago I didn’t even know there were not just two, but three radio stations in this town. Not only do you have Yawnfest Vinyl 92, and whatever it is 1380, there’s a Power 93.9. Which I guess is cool if you want to hear a lot about JeeBus, otherwise not so cool.

So, that being said, I think it’s high time for Generation Zel! to piss off some of the locals. So, starting in the next week, Generation Zel! Radio will be back on air, with DJ Roby coming back, talk of Dave and Derek coming back as well, and other shows like MixGiselle, Frank Radio, and the like. Not to mention I’m going to post a bunch more, cause I dont know much about this city but I feel the need to pick on it. Enjoy!

Residents are being advised to stay away from illegal fireworks being sold in the Hamilton area convenience stores under the name ‘Sprite bombs’. The product is sold in blister packages, and contain a small amount of explosive material. They are activated by either throwing them to the ground or stepping on them, however they are sensitive enough to explode while they are being removed from the packaging. The explosives could be mistaken for candy.

Looks like you can do some cool shit with them though.

Delhi Valu-mart to Close

The Delhi Valu-mart will be closing it’s doors March 28, as Loblaws will be buying out the Ruel family’s Your Independent Grocer store two blocks over. While details are not fully available, the two stores staff will be merged into the Main St. store and the manager of the Valu-mart store will be assuming the reins of the integrated unit. It was only three years ago that Loblaws bought the Valu-mart store from the Lampman family, in hopes of building a No Frills on the west side of town. After the plans fell through, it was announced the Delhi IGA store, owned by the Ruels, would be signing with Loblaws. Loblaws reassured the Valu-mart employees that the store would stand for at least two years. The merger will leave Delhi with only one full service grocery store. No word on what, if anything will be occupying the Valu-mart outlet once the store is closed.

400 People Laid Off at Lake Erie Steel

It was reported this morning that up to 400 people from Nanticoke’s Lake Erie Steel received their layoff notices, as parent company US Steel continues to weather the economic downturn. The company said last week that it will be temporarily idling most of its operations at its Hamilton and Lake Erie Works facilities and laying off 15 hundred workers.

Representatives of US Steel are assuring they will honour their pension obligations amidst layoffs at two area plants. The comment came after a lengthy meeting with Hamilton’s mayor earlier this week. The company also assured the mayor they were very much invested in the area and will return when the market picks back up.

Power has been restored after failed equipment caused rolling outages in Simcoe and Delhi today, starting at around 11 am this morning. The longest period of lost power was about 45 minutes to an hour from about 12:30. Norfolk Power is asking any customers still without power to get in contact with them.

Oatmeal Crisp Ceral

Norfolk County mom Janet Nemeth found something she wasn’t expecting in her cereal this morning. Her son nearly bit into a one inch razor while eating General Mills brand Oatmeal Crisp. The store where she bought the cereal has removed it from shelves after Janet contacted them, and general Mills has asked for the blade so they can investigate.
