The first severe thunderstorm watch for Southern Ontario is here in March, as a rather intense line of thunderstorms comes into the area from Michigan tonight. Windsor, Essex, Sarnia, Lambton and Chatham – Kent are all under the first severe thunderstorm watch of the year. A Tornado watch has been issued for parts of Michigan as well as a tornado warning.
After seeing this picture (big thanks to Heidi for posting this on fb) I figure I should post the weather statement issued for Brantford, Brant, Simcoe, Delhi, Norfolk, Tillsonburg, Woodstock, Oxford, London, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Hamilton.
A band of snow with gusty wind over London at 10 AM EST is giving
visibilities down to one kilometre. The snow band will pass through
the great Toronto area early this afternoon and continue eastward to
Trenton this afternoon and towards Ottawa by early this evening.
The main concern associated with this snow band will be a burst of
low visibility less than one kilometre. The gusty winds speed could
be up to 60 km/h. Motorists are advised to use caution in the poor
driving conditions. Conditions are expected to improve rapidly after
the snow band passing.
In case you hadn’t heard yet, A rainfall warning has been issued for Brantford, Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk, Oxford, Kitchner-Waterloo and Cambridge, and the City of Hamilton. High winds and up to 50 mm (6 inches) of rain overnight.
